The Client

Trail Trailer was a Logan, Utah company that designed and built off-road trailers for side-by-sides, UTVs and passenger vehicles. Its lineup centered on the MOD, a modular trailer built on a welded steel flatbed that can be set up with a gear tub, towers, a rooftop tent or an awning, alongside the one-size-fits-all UTL utility trailer. The idea was simple: keep the vehicle light and nimble and let the trailer carry the camp gear.

The Challenge

Trail Trailer built off-road trailers for people who explore on side-by-sides, UTVs and everyday passenger vehicles. Its flagship, the MOD, was modular: the same welded steel flatbed could carry a gear tub, short or tall towers, a rooftop tent or an awning. That flexibility was the whole selling point, but it was also hard to explain, and a buyer has to understand the options before they'll spend thousands of dollars on a trailer.

The company also wanted to sell directly. That meant the website had to do the work of a showroom and a salesperson at once: show the trailers in the dirt where they belong, separate the MOD from the simpler UTL utility trailer, answer whether a given vehicle could tow one, and then let the buyer configure a trailer, pick add-ons and check out without a phone call.

Trail Trailer homepage

Our Approach

We organized the site around the two product lines. From the first screen, the homepage split into "Shop the Modular Trail Trailer" and "Shop the Utility Trail Trailer", and the Products menu listed every model, from the MOD for UTVs to the MOD for passenger vehicles in two sizes and the UTL. Supporting pages, including a photo and video gallery, a Compatibility guide and an About page, sat under Gallery, Resources and About, with a newsletter link in a slim bar above the header.

The look came straight from the trailers: black, white and light gray, heavy uppercase headlines, outlined buttons and full-bleed photography and video of the trailers in the garage and out on red-rock trails. We built it on WordPress with Elementor and WooCommerce, so product pages, pricing and options lived in a real store that Trail Trailer's team could update themselves, and we wrote the site copy as part of the project.

What We Built

The site was built to take a buyer from first look to checkout. Choose a feature to see how it looked.

  • The homepage made the choice simple. Below the "Built for the Trail" hero and a short brand video, large image tiles for the MOD (Modular) and the UTL (Utility) led straight to each trailer, so visitors picked their path within one scroll.

A look as rugged as the product

Heavy type, a black and white palette and big photography of trailers in the dirt gave Trail Trailer a site that looked like it belonged outdoors. The brand finally had a home online that matched the steel and knobby tires it was selling.

A short path to the cart

Every section of the homepage pointed to a trailer, and every trailer page ended in configuration options and an Add to Cart button. Buyers could go from browsing to a configured order without leaving the site or picking up the phone.

Questions answered up front

The Compatibility page, product specifications and gallery handled the questions a trailer buyer asks before ordering, from towing to clearance and storage. Shoppers had what they needed to decide before they ever had to get in touch.

A store the team could grow

Because products, options and pages were managed in WordPress, Elementor and WooCommerce, the same foundation took on an FAQ, an accessories shop and a downloadable look book in 2024 without a rebuild.
