The Client

Artifex is a boutique live music company in Jacksonville, Florida, formerly known as Jacksonville Strings. Its musicians play weddings, corporate events and private celebrations from Miami to Denver, with string ensembles, jazz groups, vocalists, winds and custom ensembles shaped around each event.

The Challenge

Artifex started life as Jacksonville Strings, a modern string ensemble playing weddings and events around northeast Florida. Over time it grew into a network of musicians offering jazz groups, acoustic and piano vocalists, winds and custom ensembles, performing from Miami to Denver. The name, and the website behind it, still described a local string group.

The old site was a single long scrolling page built in Adobe Muse, a tool Adobe has since stopped supporting, with a separate version for tablets. It covered the basics, but there was no room to show the full range of ensembles, speak to planners and corporate clients differently from couples, or explain that the company now served markets well beyond Jacksonville.

Our Approach

We started with the brand. The new name needed an identity that felt boutique and confident, so we designed the Artifex wordmark and a palette of deep forest green, warm copper and soft cream that reads like a printed wedding invitation rather than a band flyer. Large editorial headings, full-bleed performance photography and generous spacing carry that tone across every page.

The website was then planned around the three ways people look for live music: by the kind of ensemble they want, by who they are, and by where the event is. Each of those became its own set of pages on a WordPress and Elementor build, with a "Reserve Your Date" button in the header and a reservation request path on every page. A dedicated Jaxstrings by Artifex page keeps the rebrand clear for returning clients, and the old jaxstrings.com address now forwards to the new site.

What We Built

The new brand needed a site big enough for the whole company. Choose a feature to see it on the live site.

  • The Musical Groups page lays out every type of ensemble Artifex offers, from string ensembles and jazz groups to guitar and piano vocalists, winds and feature bands. Each family gets its own card with a description, photography and the popular formats couples can book, from a solo violin to a full string orchestra.

A brand that matches the clientele

Artifex plays high-style weddings and luxury events, and the brand now looks like it belongs there. The custom wordmark, rich green and copper palette and editorial typography give the company a polished, recognizable identity that carries from the website to every proposal.

Easier to find the right sound

Visitors can browse by ensemble, by event type or by city, and every route ends at the same reservation request. Couples who don't yet know what a string trio or a vocal jazz quartet sounds like get descriptions and photography to help them decide.

Ready for new markets

Because each city has its own page built from the same template, adding a new market is a matter of creating one more page and a pin on the map. That gives Artifex a clear, local presence in each city where it performs.

A modern, responsive foundation

The new site replaces an unsupported Adobe Muse build and its separate tablet version with a single responsive WordPress and Elementor site. It adapts cleanly to phones, where many couples first look up vendors, and the Artifex team can update pages and photography without a developer.
